At least two months before the show, promote the fact that you’ll be there. Send a direct-mail piece to qualified prospects using an appropriate gift to sharpen their interest.  For example, you could try an imprinted calculator case – and let the future client know they can pick up the calculator at your booth.

    
One East Coast manufacturer sent invitations and keys to attendees, asking them to try their luck at the company’s booth. The keys opened one of several different treasure chests, and each visitor received an imprinted polo shirt, duffle bag, or sports watch.  At one point, dozens of people were in line to try their luck, and the company reported a 77% jump in show leads.
