It’s in The (mail) Bag
The traditional measure of success for a direct mailing is a 2% response rate. Add a healthy portion of forethought to your mailing, however, and the results can be far greater.
Take for example, The Humane Society, which last year achieved a whopping 40% response. Though the group gets grants and endowments, the majority of its funding comes from individual donations. The group struck gold by investing in a simple gift.
Using a mailing list of previous and likely donors, the society sent stainless steel coffee mugs with a plea for contributions. The mug was for keeps whether the prospect gave or not. Society organizers figured they couldn’t lose because even if the recipient didn’t donate, the mug is still used and would raise awareness of the organization’s message.
In fact, 2,000 of 5,000 recipients positively responded, making it one of The Humane Society’s most successful and cost-effective fundraisers yet. If you are planning a direct mail campaign, why not go the extra mile and make it a huge success too? Ask us how…Our expertise is free!
